New Delhi : As many as three top insurgents of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) rebel group were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir Thursday.
The encounter was conducted by the troopers of the Indian Army and Special Operations Group of police in Kashmir’s Kupwara district, a spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir police told news agency Indo Asian News Service.
The identity of the slain insurgents are being ascertained, he added.
Today’s encounter was part of the counter-insurgency operation of the Indian security forces in Kashmir, the spokesperson said.
