Bhopal : The Madhya Pradesh government Friday decided to relax the maximum age limit for State Public Service Commission (PSC) exams by three years from the present 35, official sources said.
The decision has been taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The exemption would be applicable to all the examinations to be conducted by the PSC in the year 2008-09 and 2009-10.
The cabinet also decided to extend up to Dec 31, 2008, the time limit of the special recruitment drive being carried out to fill up the backlog of the vacancies reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and disabled persons.
Various departments have shown a backlog 9,192 vacancies and action is being taken by many departments to fill up the vacancies.
The vacancies in 51 departments include 3,272 for SC, 8,475 for ST and 1,318 for OBC. In 2007, a total of 466 vacancies for SC, 433 for ST and 459 for OBC were filled up.
The general administration department had launched a special recruitment drive in 2005 to fill up the six percent posts reserved for the disabled.
As per the cabinet decision, the time limit for the special recruitment drive for disabled persons has also been extended from Jan 1, 2008, to Dec 31, 2008.
