Moscow : Russia called on Turkey and Iraq Friday to explore political means to solve their problems while taking into consideration the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq.
Official spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said it was important to prevent the use of the Iraqi territories as a spring board for launching “terrorist attacks” against neighboring countries.
He called on the Turkish government to exercise self-restraint and said the military action against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants in northern Iraq was further complicating the situation in the region.
As many as 10,000 Turkish forces carried out a wide-scale incursion into northern Iraq earlier today in pursuit of the PKK militants.
