Metropolitan Magistrate Chandra Shekar allowed the applications moved by Saraj Kumar, Gyasuddin and Jagdish to record their statements under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) act, which means that they cannot retract their statements during the trial of the case.

The court directed the jail superintendent to produce all the three accused before it for recording their statements in-camera.

Saraj Kumar, a key associate of kidney kingpin Amit Kumar, surrendered before the Gurgaon court earlier this month after eluding the police for nearly two weeks.

Last month, the Moradabad police arrested lab technicians Gyasuddin and Jagdish, who allegedly used to arrange kidney donors.

Saraj Kumar, along with Amit Kumar, his brother Jeewan Kumar and Upendra Aggarwal, were booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the kidney racket that was unearthed by the Haryana and Moradabad police Jan 24.
