Lawyers have planned to march in the capital from the Lahore if the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other sacked judges were not restored.

The All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM), alliance of over 20 parties, will back the lawyers’ long-march to force the government to restore and free all sacked judges.

Imran Khan, the chief of ‘Tehrik-e-Insaf’ party declared support for lawyers at a joint press conference with the President of Supreme Court Bar Association Aitzaz Ahsan at his residence where he has been under house arrest since November 3.

Imran Khan said that his party will keep on protesting against President Musharraf at APDM platform unless the judges are reinstated.

He said that the winning parties must realize that the people have given them mandate for the formation of a sovereign parliament which would take its decisions independently and without the US dictation.

He said the masses have given the mandate to the democratic parties on the basis of two issues– the restoration of judiciary and not to work with Pervez Musharraf.

He warned that if the political parties did not respect public mandate to remove Pervez Musharraf, it would be harmful for them. He endorsed the statement of Mian Nawaz Sharif for the restoration of the judiciary.

On the occasion, Atizaz Ahsan said that the party of Pervez Musharraf has faced a shameful defeat in the elections and Q-League grabbed only fifty five seats out of 342 seats of National Assembly.

He said that Pervez Musharraf had been electioneering and canvassing for the success of his party from Karachi to Khyber and tried to inspire the people to cast votes to his supporters.
