Islamabad : Human Rights Society of Pakistan issued a congratulatory message to the Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad for conducting fair, free, transparent and peaceful elections.In their message, the Chairman Society S.M. Zafar, Senior Vice Chairperson Ms. Mehnaz Rafi, Vice Chairman Hamayon Ehsan and Secretary General A.M. Shakoori said the society congratulates the nation and all concerned being able to hold peaceful election in very difficult circumstances.
They said the society’s observers found that the election staff on duty was acting vigilantly and neutral and performed their duties to the satisfaction of the candidates, their agents and voters.
They said they have created a good precedent and the society has decided to specially mention this fact in the report so that the tradition is continued.
They added the reports have been received from observers of all provinces who visited many urban and rural polling stations and Human Rights Society Observers observed that the election was substantially fair and free all over the country.
They noted that the transparent ballet boxes were shown to the polling agents before the start of polling and on verification it was confirmed to be empty and duly sealed in their presence.
In spite of the apprehension of the possible disorder in the wake of various reports by the end of polling the turn out was found to be substantial and for the polling stations visited by the observers, it was about 40% and at some places even close to 50% particularly women voters turned out in large number.
In their message they said that the overall effect of monitoring and observing the election is that nation feels proud of itself and the citizens are more confident than before that they can properly exercise their right of vote, they added.
They also appreciated the cooperation of the Secretary ECP Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad during the election process.
