Palakkad: The Kerala unit of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) urged the state government on 23rd February to implement the reports prepared by the Narendran Commission and the Sachar Committee that deal with issues confronting the Muslim community.

Talking to mediapersons here, after the inauguration of the Palakkad news bureau of Chandrika daily, he said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government did not sincerely implement the Narendran Commission report. The steps taken by the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) government to implement the report was not followed up by the LDF government, he said.

The Sachar Committee was appointed by the Central government and its recommendations have been or are being implemented by many state governments. Rather than implementing the report, the LDF government in Kerala constituted a committee to find ways to implement the report. That committee led by state minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty has already submitted its recommendations to the state government.

That this all is being done only to give an impression that the government is serious to implement the report is not unsubstantiated. The state government’s real intention is evident from an affidavit filed by the LDF government earlier in the court saying that the Muslim community was very advanced in Kerala and so they need not be given any special assistance.
