“It is a common man’s budget because railway fares have not been hiked,” Lenka told IANS from Delhi. However, the senior Congress leader from the state added that the funds allocated for projects relating to Orissa were not sufficient.

While the allocation is good compared to last year, it is still not sufficient, he said.

The budget has allocated at least Rs.80 crores (Rs.800 million) to improve the Paradeep-Haridaspur railway line and announced four new trains for Orissa, apart from increasing frequencies of some trains, said Lenka.

But no adequate funds have been allocated for the Khordha-Bolangir railway line, which has been going on for 15 years.
