New Delhi : As many as 298 passengers remained stranded at the Delhi airport for more than 12 hours as the crewmembers for their Wednesday morning Air India flight to New York via London failed to turn up till late in the evening.
An Air India spokesman said the crew of the returning flight refused to fly as their working hours were over and their replacement could not reach here from Mumbai in time.
“This resulted in delay of the AI 111 New Delhi-London-New York flight that was scheduled to leave at 7.20 a.m.,” admitted the spokesman.
The delay has left the passengers high and dry. “The passengers are at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. We could not accommodate them in hotels as there are no rooms available,” the spokesman said.
“We are accommodating New York passengers in the Delhi-New York direct flight Wednesday night and passengers for London would be accommodated in another flight early morning Thursday.”
