Mosul, Iraq : A car bomb targeting a police patrol in the city of Mosul, the capital of Nineveh province, went off on Wednesday, killing two civilians and injuring another, a police source said.
“A car bomb parked in the al-Karama neighborhood in southeastern Mosul detonated near a police patrol, killing two civilians and wounding another,” Brigadier Khaled Abdul Sattar from the provincial police command told Xinhua.
The blast apparently missed its target and caused casualties with bystanders at the scene, Sattar said.
Mosul, some 400 km north of Baghdad, has been the hotbed of insurgency since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
