“We are committed to the talks,” he told the press in this capital in the presence of Annan who shortly before met him and the Kenyan President Emilio Mwai Kibabi separately.

The former top UN official was upset with the government and opposition’s incapacity to overcome the political crisis, although he considered the talks constructive this Wednesday.

The communique released Monday night in this capital noted the mediating team, made up of relevant African personalities, did its job and now everything will depend on President Kibabi and opponent Odinga.

The demonstrations announced by the Orange Democratic Movement a few days before were aimed at pressuring government authorities to meet their demands.
