Kepler Wessels to coach Chennai Super Kings

Chennai : Former South Africa captain Kepler Wessels has been named coach of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Chennai franchise, the Chennai Super Kings.

“We wanted someone dedicated and result oriented. Wessels is a professional and has coached the South Africa A team. It was L. Sivaramakrishnan who initiated the process of getting Wessels as the coach for us,” selector and part of the Chennai team management V.B. Chandrasekar told reporters here.

The 50-year-old cricketer-turned commentator has played for both Australia and South Africa in the 1990s.

The Chennai Super Kings is owned by India Cements Limited and has the national one-day and twenty20 skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the side.
