Pakistan consistently endeavours to uphold international laws: Ambassador Salman Bashir

Beijing : Pakistan firmly believes in the vision and pledges of the United Nations and has consistently endeavoured to uphold international law as well as broaden and deepen multilateral cooperation. The Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Salman Bashir said this while addressing the opening ceremony of the Chinese National Rounds of Jessup International law Moot Court here Tuesday.

The moot focused on humanities and the social sciences held at the Law School of Renmin University, a prestigious higher learning institution of the country which was largely attended by judges from across the world, students, besides Ambassadors of Germany, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, and a number of dignatories.

Highlighting the Sino-Pak relations in global prospects, the Ambassador pointed out that both the countries are close neighbours, good friends and partners.

He told the august gathering that both China and Pakistan have worked together to advance the cause of peace, seek just solution to conflicts and disputes, push the cause of development and shared prosperity for all the people living the world over.

“We have also taken several initiatives to promote regional, sub-regional and inter-regional cooperation,” he noted.

Underlining the importance of the world body, Ambassador Salman Bashir said that United Nations is the only universal instrument to carry forward the common human enterprise for peace and development.

“It is not only important to reaffirm our commitment to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations but also to reinforce our resolve to uphold international norms and law”, he noted.

He said that the recent decades have seen phenomenal development of international law, adding that the process of evolution and codification of laws governing international society must keep pace with the complex and multifaceted phenomena of globalization.
