Rome : Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa has blamed Israel for the “explosive situation” in the Palestinian territories because the Jewish state was not working seriously for the peace process.
“Israel has never worked for peace before and after the Arab peace initiative, even after the Annapolis conference,” Moussa said at a joint news conference with Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema here Thursday.
He held Israel responsible for the failure of international efforts coupled with the readiness by the Arab countries to tackle the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Moussa said the US-sponsored Annapolis conference was fading away and said “we don’t see any progress in the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict but the opposite.”
Moussa said the upcoming Arab summit, scheduled for late March in Damascus, would examine the situation and view the response of the Israeli government and whether “we were fooled again.”
