New Delhi: All India Christian Council has expressed concern at surge in violence by Sangh Parivar activists as General Elections draw near. The Council has also sought CBI probe in violence against Christian missionaries and churches in Orissa.
On 28th February in Bengaluru, the 6th anniversary of Gujarat 2002 pogrom, India’s Christian leadership including Council president John Dayal and Fr Adolph Washington, president, Indian Catholic Press Association, addressed a press conference. They welcomed President Pratibha Patil’s assurance that the Government will remain ever vigilant against the machinations of anti-social and anti-national groups.
They expressed concern that the guilty of the mass murders of Muslims in the Mumbai 1993 riots and Gurjarat pogrom 2002 remain unpunished, as do those involved in the anti-Sikh violence of 1984.
The Christian leaders said they were deeply disturbed that despite the Union government’claims of vigilance against communal forces, the Sangh Parivar has been given a free run of the country.
