221 Indians died during Hajj 2007

Jeddah: 221 Indians died during Hajj of this year (1428 Islamic Hijri calendar) according Suhel Ajaz Khan, the consul for Hajj on Indian Consulate in Jeddah.

Most of these death were natural causes such as heart attack, six died in road accidents. Website of Jeddah’s Indian consulate list 144 names.

India sent 157,000 hajis of which 110,000 went through the Hajj Committee of India. 86 Indians are in Hospital being treated for various ailments.

The youngest among who died is 34 year old Rahima of Maharashtra who died on the flight to Saudi Arabia on 4th December as a result of heart attack. The oldest to die was 108 years old Shaikh Imam Bi of Maharashtra who died of cardiac arrest in Makkah. Majority of dead are from the age group 60 to 77 years old.
