Gilchrist second wicketkeeper to claim 400 victims

Sydney : Adam Gilchrist became the second wicketkeeper to complete 400 dismissals in Tests after South Africa’s Mark Boucher when he caught his Indian counterpart Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the first innings of the Sydney Test Friday. Gilchrist is the first wicketkeeper to complete the double of 5,000 runs and 400 dismissals.

Other statistical highlights of the day:

* Sourav Ganguly recorded his first fifty in four innings against Australia at the SCG when he scored 67 in the first innings of the second Test Friday. His previous best at the SCG was 25. However, this is the former India captain’s fifth 50 against the Australians and 31st in all.

* Australia’s pace spearhead Brett Lee’s second five-wicket haul in India’s first innings in the Sydney Test is his eighth in Test cricket.

* India’s last man, Ishant Sharma recorded his best first-class score in the Sydney test when he scored 23 off 34 balls and his last wicket stand of 31 with Sachin Tendulkar is the best for India against Australia, the previous best being 24 between Anil Kumble and Venkatesh prasad in 1999-00.
