Mumbai : Fourteen men who were arrested in connection with the molestation of two NRI women here on New Year’s Eve were Friday sent to judicial custody till Jan 18.
The police presented them in the court of the Andheri metropolitan magistrate Friday.
“All the arrested people have filed for bail. The court will take a decision on it later today,” advocate Bhave, who is representing all the accused, told IANS.
The police arrested the 14 men from different parts of the city late Thursday, following a public outcry over the incident in which a group of men molested the two California residents, who were originally from Valsad in south Gujarat.
They victims are reported to be students on vacation to India who had come to Mumbai for New Year’s Eve celebrations. The incident occurred near Hotel JW Marriott in the posh Juhu area of northwest Mumbai.
