Pippa Bradford, WFP Country Representative in Syria, said in press release Thursday that such a step would help over 750,000 people who are in great need for food especially for the 360,000 Iraqi refugees on the Syrian borders.

She said the programme would provide monthly aid to over 155,000 Iraqi refugees starting with those who were on the Syrian borders and complete the mission by the end of 2008.

Syria is securing shelter to all refugees who reached the borders — namely those with no sources of income, savings or support.
