The current meteorological analysis suggests that the entire northern region could see a rise in the night temperatures by 3-4 degree Celsius over the next three days.

The lowest minimum temperature in the plains was 0.9 degree Celsius at Churu in Rajasthan.

In the Kashmir valley, too, the extremely dry and cold spell was broken Saturday with snowfall in the upper reaches and rain elsewhere. The Srinagar-Jammu national highway had to be closed due to snow around the Jawahar Tunnel leading in and out of the valley.

Under the influence of a western disturbance many parts of Jammu & Kashmir and some parts of Himachal Pradesh could have snow and rainfall in the next couple of days, the met office said here.

Rain and thundershowers are also likely at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, south Karnataka, Lakshwadeep and Kerala.
