Bad weather also struck other parts of Australia.

Floods also cut roads south of Brisbane in Queensland, while tropical Cyclone Helen downed power to homes and business in Darwin, in the Northern Territory, for more than 24 hours after
falling trees brought down electricity lines, ABC Radio reported.

A cyclone warning was issued for coastal and island communities in Northern Queensland as Cyclone Helen moved on.
