US consul general inaugurates medical camp in Kutch

Mumbai : Michael S. Owen, the US consul general in Mumbai, inaugurated a medical camp in a village in Kutch region of Gujarat Tuesday.

The three-week camp organised at Bidada village by Shree Bidada Sarvodaya Trust will treat more than 30,000 patients free of charge.

A medical team comprising 50 local doctors and 85 volunteers from the US, many of who were born in Gujarat, have offered their free services to the camp.

The volunteers from the US are also raising funds for the camp and other activities of the trust, a statement issued here said.

“The dedication and spirit of the volunteers is amazing. I have personally witnessed the tremendous impact the camp and its skilled doctors and personnel have on the lives of the patients,” said Owen, who has been associated with the camp since 2005.
