New Delhi : The Indian diaspora should provide their intellectual and entrepreneurial resources to build the Indian small and medium enterprises (SME) sector and help it compete globally following the example of the expatriate Chinese, said Indian Commerce Minister Kamal Nath Wednesday.
He was speaking at the second day of the 6th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas here.
Kamal Nath said in China, it was SMEs and not the large corporations that were leading the growth initiatives.
“While SMEs received immense support of the diaspora, the Chinese government was supporting their large enterprises,” he pointed out.
Citing the Chinese example, the minister urged the Indian diaspora to lend their intellectual and entrepreneurship resources to build the Indian SME sector and engage it with SMEs worldwide.
