India’s inflation remains unaltered at 3.5 percent

NEW DELHI, Jan 11 (NNN-PTI) — The whole-sale price index-based inflation for the week ended December 29, 2007, remained unchanged at its previous week’s level of 3.50 per cent.

The annual rate of inflation stood at 5.89 per cent a year ago.

According to the official data released Friday, the price of food articles’ group declined by 0.3 per cent due to lower prices of fruits and vegetables, which fell by 2 per cent and fall in prices of fish-marine, moong and urad pulses by 1 per cent each over the previous week.

The prices of manufactured products, which have 63.75 weight in the price index, rose by 0.2 per cent for the week.

Meanwhile, oilseeds prices declined by 0.5 per cent but the prices of dairy products rose marginally by 0.7 per cent for the week ended December 29.
