A statement by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna said progress has been achieved regarding the agreed-on working plan regarding Iran’s atomic activities.

The statement followed talks held Friday and Saturday in Iran by IAEA head Mohamed El Baradei with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Iran’s supreme spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The talks also concerned such questions as carrying out security measures and controls in Iran as well as creating further confidence-building measures as demanded by the UN Security Council.

Earlier, Tehran said that the return of the Security Council dossier on Iran to the IAEA would be a major step towards a settlement of outstanding issues.

“The Iranian nuclear dossier should be returned from the United Nations Security Council to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and be dealt with within a normal course,” Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said in his weekly press conference.

“In that case Iran would also be ready to boost its cooperation with the IAEA,” he added.
