“British companies want to enter into partnerships with Indian companies to push globalisation and technological progress,” Jones said at a business conclave in the National Capital Region.

Referring to successful ventures between Indian and British companies, Jones stressed on further enhancing bilateral trade between the two countries, which currently stands at 8.7 billion pounds (nearly $18 billion) per year.

“Innovation, if combined with an ambitious and pro-development conclusion to the current Doha Development Agenda, will help lift many millions of people out of poverty in India”, said Digby Jones.

Business ties between the two countries will be in focus when the British prime minister comes here on his maiden visit to India Sunday.

Top corporate honchos of Britain are expected to accompany Brown to India.
