At a joint press conference following talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Bush said “the United States has a long-standing friendship with Egypt,” which has a long history of culture.

Bush expressed his appreciation for the invitation of the Egyptian side, saying he respects the history, traditions and culture of the country.

For his part, Mubarak said at the press conference that the relationship between the two sides are “deep-rooted.”

Bush flew into Sharm el-Sheikh on Wednesday, the last leg of his eight-day trip to the Mideast aimed at winning Arab support for his Mideast policy.

President Bush stayed in Egypt only hours, during which he discussed regional and bilateral issues with Mubarak.
