Jakarta : Indonesian Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari met with her Iranian counterpart Kamran B Lankarni here on Tuesday to explore bilateral cooperation in the health sector.
Siti Fadilah said the meeting with the Iranian health minister was conducted to follow up a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries which was singed in the Iranian capital of Tehran on November 19 last year.
“The meeting was to follow up on the MoU which was signed in Iran because the country had offered to share with us the anti-AIDS medicine it had discovered and the outcome of its research,” Siti said adding Indonesia would cooperate with any other country, including Iran.
She said the cooperation in the health sector with Iran would cover among others production of various vaccines, including that for Avian Influenza to combat bird flu, medicine procurement, medical equipment, transfer of information on the system of health services, and medical research.
