Separate bomb attacks kill 3 people in Baghdad

Baghdad : Two bomb attacks rocked the Iraqi capital on Wednesday morning, killing three civilians and injuring15 others, an Interior Ministry source said.

A roadside bomb detonated at rush hour in a major parking lot in Bab al-Mu’adham area in central Baghdad, killing two people and wounding 10 others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

A minibus was destroyed and several nearby cars were damaged by the blast, the source added.

In separate incident, two roadside bombs went off coordinately on a main road in the al-Nahrawan suburb in eastern Baghdad, killing a civilian and wounding five others, the source said.

Meanwhile, several mortar rounds struck the building of a deserted super market, which houses a base of U.S. and Iraqi troops, in Baghdad’s northeastern neighborhood of Shaab, he said.

The source could not tell whether the troops sustained any casualty, as the Iraqi police forces are prevented from approaching the area.
