Cairo : Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa on Saturday condemned Israel’s continued attacks against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The chief of the pan-Arab body, who is currently on a visit to Syria, made the condemnation in a statement obtained by Xinhua here.
In the statement, Moussa strongly condemned the Israeli policies of killing and destruction carried out by the occupation forces against Palestinians in Gaza, warning of a severe consequence of the Israeli continued aggression.
He, meanwhile, urged the international Quartet on Mideast peace, which groups the United Nations, the European Union, the United States and Russia, to swiftly act to halt the Israeli practices instead of only extending lip service.
The AL chief also called for a permission for relief assistance to enter the Gaza Strip to prevent a collapse of the ongoing negotiations on the Palestinians-Israeli track.
Israel has completely closed Gaza Strip crossings and launched an aerial and ground offensive since Tuesday in response to Hamas’ resumption of rocket attacks against Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip.
Since the start of the Israeli offensive against Gaza, at least37 Palestinians have been killed.
