IIM-Lucknow to manage teacher-student meets at schools

Lucknow : The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L) will play ‘guru’ to 20 teachers and 60 students from secondary schools from across the country here Sunday, in an effort to improve the rapport between the teacher and the taught.

The exercise involves playing games designed to cover areas of finance, marketing and operations.

Titled “Ocumen”, the event would give an essence of IIM-L’s efforts towards improving the academic environs of secondary schools in India.

“Ocumen has been developed as a platform to give first-hand experience of academic atmosphere at a premier management institution simultaneously to teachers and students,” said Amkit Dhingra, the coordinator of the event.

Amita Mittal, the head of student affairs, seemed very optimistic of the success of the meet.

“This is one of our best investments in the core sector of education,” she said.

The participants were short-listed from among the 100 applications received from various secondary schools. After a screening test, the schools were asked to send six students and two teachers each.
