NEW DELHI, Jan 18 (APP): Iranian Minister for Economy and Finance Davoud Danesh Jafari said here on Friday that Iran was confident that Pakistan and India would ink IPI gas pipeline project soon.
Media reports quoting him as saying “there may be some pressure on India and Pakistan to delay the project.” But he was confident that Pakistan and India would sign the contract soon.
He said negotiations between Iran and Pakistan were nearly over.“Now, India and Pakistan need to sign the agreement”, he said.
“Indian Petroleum Minister is visiting Iran in a few weeks. We are trying to get someone from Pakistan at the same time in Tehran so that the agreement could be reached,” he said.
The Iranian Minister said Iranian Embassy in Islamabad had already initiated the process in this regard, he said.
“The pipeline project is very important not only for the three countries but for the entire region”, he added.
