Pakistan had decided long ago to open a consulate at Jinnah House but the Indian government needed to lease out the building, a foreign office official said Friday.

The official said a news report suggesting that Pakistan had withdrawn its request to the Indian authorities about opening a consulate at Jinnah House was incorrect, the Daily Times reported Saturday.

He said that Pakistan still wanted possession of Jinnah House for the consulate.
