Damascus : Turkish President Abdullah Gul arrived here Saturday to participate in the celeberations marking Damascus as the Capital of Arab Culture for the year 2008.
He was welcomed at Damascus International Airport by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mou’allem and Minister of Culture Riyadh Naasan Agha.
Gul is scheduled to meet with Syrian President Bashar Al-Asad on the sidelines of the visit, where both sides would discuss latest regional developments, bilateral relations and means of enhancing them at all levels.
This is Gul’s first visit to Syria since he was elected president on August 2007.
