If the ace leg-spinner gets four more wickets, he would overtake Kapil Dev’s tally of 51 in 11 Tests. Kumble currently has 48 scalps in nine Tests.

Kumble’s predecessor Rahul Dravid is also nearing a major milestone of his illustrious career. He needs 109 runs more to become the sixth batsman to aggregate 10,000 runs in Test annals. The right-hander has so far tallied 9,891 in 118 Tests.

If Dravid does reach 10,000-run mark, he would join Brian Lara (11,953), Sachin Tendulkar (11,616), Allan Border (11,174), Steve Waugh (10,927) and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122).

And if Dravid scores a century, he would achieve two more landmarks. He would become the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar (38 centuries) and Gavaskar (34) to register 25 centuries or more.

Having already made 920 (average 54.12) in 10 Tests in Australia, Dravid is set to become the third Indian after Tendulkar (1,356) and V.V.S. Laxman (1,018) to amass 1,000 runs in Australia.

Left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan needs three wickets to complete a century of wickets and become the seventh Indian after Vinoo Mankad, Kapil, Ravi Shastri, Kumble, Javagal Srinath and Harbhajan Singh to complete the double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets.
