Kolkata : Top seeded Grace Sari Ysidora of Indonesia crashed out of the girls’ event of ONGC ITF Junior Tennis Wednesday, making way for all-Indian semi-final draw at Kolkata.
Kyra Shroff will now meet compatriot Rishika Sunkara (7th seeded) in the first semi-final match, while Indian player Rashmi Teltumbde, seeded third in the tournament, will take on fifth seeded Sweta Solanki.
Earlier in the day, eighth seeded Kyra Shroff defeated Ysidora in straight sets 6-1,7-6(7-4). But it was the neck-in-neck fight in the second set, which went into the tie-breaker, extended the duration of the match to 104 minutes.
Kyra outplayed Ysidora in the first set and broke her very first serve. She took 40 minutes to claim first set 6-1. The second set, with each player breaking the serves of other in three games, went into the tie-breaker.
Kyra, however, won the second set also to secure a berth in the semis. She meets seventh seed Rishika Sunkara from Delhi, India in the semis.
Later in the day, Sweta Solanki defeated compatriot, second seed, Tanvi Shah 7-6(7-5), 6-3 taking total 132 minutes in recording victory.
In the Boys’ Singles event, sixth seed Roman Piftor of Uzbekistan will play Sudanwa Sitaram (third seed) from India. Fourth seeded Christopher Marquis will take on eighth seed Akash Wagh in an all-Indian second semi-final.
