The 271-room hotel, which will be operated under the brand name of Ibis, will be located in Gurgaon near Delhi.

“With increasing business activity in many Indian cities, we foresee strong growth in the demand for value driven accommodation by international and intra-regional business travellers,” said Michael Issenberg, managing director, Accor, Asia Pacific.

“The opening of Ibis Gurgaon reinforces our strategy to entrench our foothold in India as a first-mover by leveraging on this growing demand for budget chain hotels across India’s emerging cities,” Issenberg added.

The company will roll out more such hotels in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and New Delhi. It has tied up with InterGlobe Enterprises to develop 25 Ibis hotels across the country.

Currently, InterGlobe Hotels has 10 Ibis hotels at various stages of development across India, adding up to 1,850 rooms located at Gurgaon, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. The company is negotiating for several other sites.
