Iran, Singapore to expand technical-scientific cooperation

Tehran : Iran has expressed its willingness to expand technical and scientific cooperation with Singapore, official IRNA news agency reported Thursday.

Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology Alireza Jahangiri told a visiting Singaporean delegation here Wednesday his country needs huge investment to develop its science and technology potential and is keen on technical and scientific cooperation with Singapore.

Jahangiri said Iran has had remarkable scientific development and “ranks first in some scientific fields among the Islamic world and Middle East region.”

“Iran with 70 million population, vast geographical area, young and active population and high developing potentials need investment for building infrastructures and developing structures and providing necessary manpower and in this concern is interested to cooperate with other countries,” he said.

During the meeting, the Singaporean delegation expressed interests to expand scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries.
