BHEL net profit up 15.6 percent in third quarter

New Delhi : State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has posted net profit of Rs.7.7 billion ($195 million) for the third quarter (October-December), showing a 15.6 percent rise over the same period of last fiscal, the company said Friday.

“The company has posted a net profit of Rs.7.7 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2007, as compared to Rs.6.7 billion ($167 million) for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2006,” said the company in a statement.

BHEL’s total income increased by 15.5 percent over the past year to Rs.52 billion ($1.3 billion), the company said.

“Total income has increased from Rs.45 billion ($1.2 billion) for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2006, to Rs.52 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2007,” company said.
