The Palestinian authority is cooperating with any Egyptian or Arab efforts to help unite the Palestinians, representative of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Cairo Nabil Shaath was quoted as saying in an interview with the Doha-based al-Jazeera TVchannel.

Shaath also praised Egypt’s efforts to open the Egypt-Gaza borders to help ease the Palestinian suffering in the sieged Gaza Strip.

According to an earlier MENA report on Friday, Mubarak said in an interview with el-Obsbou daily that Egypt is ready to host dialogue between Fatah and Hamas to end their disputes and set thestage for talks that could help lift the Israeli siege on Gaza.

The national dialogue between Hamas and Abbas’ Fatah collapsed last June after Hamas militants overran Fatah’s security forces and took control of the Gaza Strip.
