Jammu : Indian and Chinese soldiers Saturday jointly celebrated India’s Republic Day on their border in the desert region of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chinese military personnel danced to Indian music and then shared mouth-watering dishes the Indian army unit led by Brigadier Surinder Singh had arranged for them at Chushul, about 150 km north of Leh town.
The Indian flag was unfurled and both the Chinese and Indian soldiers saluted it.
“This was followed by a formal meeting, held in an atmosphere of mutual trust and camaraderie,” military spokesman Lt. Col. S.D. Goswami said here.
The Chinese delegation was treated to a cultural programme by troops of Chushul garrison. The Chinese participated in some fun-filled games, which were followed by a rich spread of Indian cuisine.
“The guests were treated to foot-tapping Indian music played by a military band. The visitors swayed to the music,” the spokesman said.
