Madrid : Colombian Clara Rojas, prisoner recently liberated from Colombian guerrillas after six years, stressed the commitment of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to the liberation of the rest of those held captive.
The former vice presidential candidate expressed her gratitude to the Venezuelan president for his efforts to obtain her freedom and that of former Senator Gonzalez de Perdomo.
In a radio interview with SER News Network, Rojas said, “Chavez knows I’m to accompany him to obtain the liberation of more prisoners, besides I hold him in great esteem and I’m very fond of him.”
She also expressed willingness to act as intermediary with President Alvaro Uribe, Senator Piedad Cordoba and all the Colombian that work in favor of the prisoners.
Asked about the position of Chavez concerning FARC (Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces), Rojas responded that she partially agrees with him, but her motivation is his commitment to liberate her partners in captivity.
I fully trust a real way to resolve the conflict will be found since we already count with a concrete answer from FARC, she said, and she spoke in favor of creating a concrete strategy of work and commitment with FARC.
We must go straight to the problems that concerns us the most how many prisoner liberations, when and where are they to take place those are the real questions to be asked, she pointed out.
