London : President Pervez Musharraf has urged members of the Pakistani community living in Britain to raise the image of their country of origin by dispelling its negative impression through honesty, hard work and as law-abiding citizens.
The President made these comments when a delegation of PML-Q led by its UK Chief Asif Shahzad met him at his Central London hotel on Friday evening.
The President said the British-Pakistani community was playing an important role in strengthening the relations between the two countries which have close ties in many fields.
Speaking about the upcoming February 18 parliamentary elections, President Musharraf ruled out any possibility of rigging and said the Election Commission has taken all measures to plug the holes which could lead to flawed polls.
He said with the holding of these elections, the democratic institutions would be further strengthened and the country will continue its journey on the road to progress and development.
Asif Shahzad felicitated Pervez Musharraf on his re-election and taking oath as the civilian President. He praised the policies initiated during the past five years and also noted unprecedented economic growth that has taken place in the country.
