Foreign Minister Ahmad Abul-Gheit said after the cabinet meeting Saturday that the situation on the borders between Egypt and Gaza was going haywire due to the Israeli actions.

Egypt cares for the Gazans escaping the chaos there and the government would see to them and take care of Palestinians, stated the official.

Abul-Gheit indicated that members of Palestinian movements mingling with civilians have started to cause problems, intimidating Egyptian border guards and security personnel.

The Egyptian hospitality must not be met by brute force on the part of members of Palestinian movements, stated the Egyptian official, adding that some of the guards were sent to the hospital for sustaining serious injuries.

He went on saying that organizing procedures at the borders must continue in order to reach the status quo ante, before the Hamas control of the Gaza Strip in June 15, 2007.

Abul-Gheit said that the Egyptian government would meet with Palestinians from Hamas and Fatah on separate occasions to sort out differences and bring on a solution for the Palestinian division.

On the Arab Foreign Ministers meeting Sunday, Abul-Gheit stated that the meeting would focus on the situation in Gaza as well as the presidential dispute in Lebanon, with results of the late visit by Arab League Chief Amr Moussa to Lebanon and Syria discussed during the event.
