New Delhi : French President Nicolas Sarkozy concluded a short visit to India on Saturday, his first to this country, boosting strategic cooperation and trade relations.
The 52-year-old visitor ended his two-day stay after attending the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi and visiting the Taj Mahal, a monument to love.
Various agreements, including nuclear research, defense, scientific-technical cooperation, and the building of a nuclear reactor, were signed by the governments of both countries during Sarkozy s visit.
The French president and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh agreed that the signed deals will strengthen bilateral links.
They also confirmed the completion of a nuclear cooperation agreement, which will be signed once the International Atomic Energy Agency gives the approval to New Delhi.
Sarkozy and Singh plan to reach an agreement on armed forces and strengthen joint programs and researches in the military industry.
The French leader committed that his country will work to triple to $17.606 billion bilateral trade for 2012. The current bilateral trade exchange amounts $ 5 billion.
