Melbourne : Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza’a dream run in the Australian Open came to an end after the Indian duo lost to Tiantian Sun of China and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia 6-7,4-6 in the finals of the mixed doubles here Sunday.
During the match that lasted for 81 minutes, the unseeded Indian pair gave a strong competition to the fifth seed, saving seven break points, including three match points.
Sania-Bhupathi came close in the first set but lost their tempo in the second, adding on to their list of double faults and unforced errors. Sun and Zimonjic on the other hand capitalized on the chances they got, breaking the Indians once and not conceding a single break point.
