The two exhibitions are KYIV Expo Style 2008 to be held at Kyiv ExpoPlaza between Feb 18 to 21, and PRIMUS DECORTEX between Nov 4 and 7 this year in Fiera Milano, both in the Ukraine capital.

The first exhibition focuses on ladies’, men’s and children’s clothes, sports attire and jeans, youth fashion exclusives and fashion houses, fancy goods and fashion accessories. It will be the first time AEPC will be participating in this fair.

The KYIV Expo Style 2008 is being organised by Kyiv International Contract Fair, a Ukrainian company reckoned as a leader of the exhibition business in the country.

KYIV fashion fair is a significant event in the development of the fashion industry in the Caspian region, and attracts international companies from Asia, Europe and the US. In the previous fair held in 2000, 34 countries had participated.

The November expo will be organised by Toronto-based Primus Exhibitions Group, which has an office in Ukraine.

According to AEPC sources, Ukraine is one of the priority countries for business development among CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), and participating in the exhibitions will provide a big boost to the Indian apparel industry.

There has been considerable change in the industry since the country became independent in 1991. Ukraine was part of Soviet Union until 1991.

AEPC is sanguine that participation in the two fairs could lead to beneficial contacts with Ukrainian textile companies for building long-term relationships.

India’s export of readymade garments during 2005-2006 was $10.71 million.
