FOGSI national president Narendra Malhotra said the alarming sex ratio is a major social problem.

Malhotra said: “Gender discrimination is deep-rooted in our society and unless we actually implement long-term measures with sincerity towards solving womens’ problems, we will not make a headway. Only a social change, education and awareness can solve the problem of gender bias.”

FOGSI has announced it would debar any member proven to be indulging in female foeticide. “We have initiated a drive to promote adoption of the girl child and already 1,000 members have come forward to adopt girls,” said Malhotra.
