Kabul : One ISAF and three coalition soldiers were killed and two ISAF soldiers injured in two separate traffic accidents in Helmand and Kandahar provinces of Afghanistan. Separately, the US-led coalition troops claimed killing 33 militants in ground and air operation in the southeastern Khost province. Spokesman for ISAF in Kabul Brigadier General Carlos Branco, said on Tuesday, one soldier of the multinational force was killed and another two wounded in a vehicle accident in Nahre Saraj district of the volatile Helmand province. Expressing grief and shock over the accident, the spokesman said there was no involvement of militants. A statement from coalition forces, Bagram base, said three coalition soldiers were killed in a traffic accident. According to the statement, the soldiers were on patrol in Arghandab district of Kandahar province where their vehicle skidded off the road and jumped into a river. Names and nationalities of the soldiers were not mentioned but American troops made the larger part of the coalition force in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, coalition troops said they had killed 33 militants in air and ground operation in Khost province in southeast of the restive country. A spokesman for the foreign military in Kabul said the troops located a large group of militants with weapons and rocket-propelled-grenades (RPGs) and attacked them from ground and air.
The spokesman said approximately 33 militants were killed in the strike.
