The minister was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a tour of polling stations for the first constituency by-elections, which he conducted with Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Hussein Al-Huraiti.

Asked to comment on a statement by MP Mubarak Al-Waalan on reports on election contestations, the minister said that he had not heard the MP’s remarks, but said that “if they are related to contestations or any doubting of the elections, then this is an issue for the judges and their word will be decisive and one that we will all accept.” As for his impression of the by-elections, the minister expressed content with the smoothness with which the process was going, adding that the justice and interior ministries had made all necessary preparations to guarantee a problem-free election day.
